Under the Bed

Another monster in a business suit.

Monsters at Work!

Here are some monsters I drew at work yesterday. One upside to the economic situation is that I now have more downtime to focus on more lofty pursuits, like drawing toxic farm animals!

P.S. I know, I know. The art scene has been WAY over saturated with pink bunnies. I just like coloring my drawings with highlighters. It gives them this cool 80's florescent plastic look, like the should be a kids toy.

Halloween 2008

Here's me as Nosferatu. While some kids wanted to grow up to be firemen and doctors, I dreamt of silent german expressionist horror.

Photo Volley

So my graphic designer friend Ryan challenged my to a photoshop volley a few weeks ago and I'm just now serving back. So here's the original picture (what th? That's me!), and then my rendition. Me and Nosferatu kinda look related...
Alright, your serve, Fart-face. (what fun is any game without trash talk?)

Computer geek.

Being a self proclaimed retro-futurist, I'll admit that I'm infatuated with living in in the age of computers and the internet. I'm holding out on the iphone though, until it does live video conferencing and comes in wrist-watch form.

Star Fisher

Here's something I did a few years ago for my business card. There's this weird recurring angler fish theme throughout my work. I guess I just have a thing for both deep sea monsters and bioluminescence.

Dragon in a business suit.

A subject I've been playing around with in my art is the juxtaposition of real vs. imaginary and childhood wonder vs. the daily grind of adulthood. Much of this comes from my personal life where I wear a suit to work everyday but daydream about flying dinosaurs and underwater cities and stuff. So I've been drawing imaginary creatures in business attire. I don't know whether they were captured and domesticated and joined civilized society or if they simply grew out of being so imaginary and went out and got jobs in the real world.

Welcome!

Welcome to my art blog! I've set this up to post various art work as I do it and also to include different inspirational sources, like art, music and film. I want this to be a place to be able to brainstorm and bounce ideas off of, so please feel free to make comments or suggestions!
